Silver Bantam Description

Also known as the Bantam Silver Appleyard
The Silver bantam was created by Mr Reginald Appleyard in Ixworth, Suffolk during the 1940’s. A white call drake with a khaki Campbell duck were mated and the resulting most colourful offspring were selected and crossed. The white Call drake was likely to have been carrying the ‘Harlequin’ gene to create ‘Silver’ offspring. Meaning the white was not a pure white call drake. The Silver bantam is not related to the Silver Appleyard and instead looks similar in colour to the Abacot Ranger.
